Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit
Replace Points and Condenser with Zero-Maintenance Electronic Ignition
for Bosch 4-Cylinder Distributors with 1-Piece, left-pivoting points
Bosch 4-cylinder, vacuum-advance distributor with 1-piece, left-pivoting breaker points
Set It and Forget It - Never Adjust Points or Timing Again!
The Hot-Spark
electronic ignition conversion kit replaces breaker points and condenser in the
distributor to provide rock-solid reliability. With the Hot-Spark electronic
ignition, dwell and timing are always spot-on accurate.
No matter how strong your engine is, you won't get the most
out of it without a good spark. The stock, breaker points-based ignition system
uses technology that dates back a century - to the Kettering system, which was
introduced in the 1910 Cadillac. Even though you can adjust breaker points for
near-electronic ignition performance, they will burn and wear within a few
thousand miles, long before the recommended replacement interval. With points,
the timing will drift; power and fuel economy will suffer.
The Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit delivers a
strong spark every time and is maintenance-free. You'll notice quicker starts,
more top end power and a little gas mileage boost. It's as easy to install as
points and condenser!
Advantages of the Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit:
Replaces points and condenser with solid-state electronics
Set it and forget it - Never adjust points and timing again!
Zero maintenance
Delivers far more voltage to the spark plugs than points-based points
Reliable Hall-effect technology
Never gets out of adjustment
Rock-steady reliability
Dwell and timing are always spot-on accurate
Increased gas mileage, fuel economy
Quick starting
Smooth idling

Easy to install - If you can install points, you can install the Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion
No points to wear, burn, pit or corrode
No condenser needed
Absolutely no points float - zero - even at redline RPM and beyond!
Never worry about drifting dwell or timing again
No rubbing parts - nothing to wear out!
Fits completely under the distributor cap

Encased in high-temp thermoplastic - protected from the elements and oil, grease, dirt, water, etc.
Never bother with points or condenser again!
The best investment you'll ever make for your vehicle
Saves precious ($$$) fuel
Coil with 3.0 Ohms or more internal, primary resistance required.
Bosch Black coil is ideal for HotSpark ignition kits.
Requires a 12-volt, negative ground electrical system.
External Ballast Resistor: If the charging system voltage, measured at the coil's + terminal, is more than 13.9 volts at any RPM level, the voltage regulator likely needs replacing or a 1.4 Ohm ballast resistor should be wired between the coil's + terminal and the red HotSpark ignition wire. Too much voltage can damage the ignition module and other electronic components.

Virtually all 4-cylinder, air-cooled VW distributors have right-pivoting points. Some BMW, Porsche and Mercedes distributors have left-pivoting points; some have right-pivoting points. Please compare the points in your Bosch distributor to the photo of points below:
Determine whether your Bosch distributor
has single-piece points, as early (pre-1968 or so) Bosch distributors typically
have 2-piece points. If it has 2-piece points, a brass pivot pin will
remain, standing up from the breaker plate, after you remove the points.
